Piknic | Open Mic | Psytrance | Northern Exposure Tuesday, 05 June 2012
Another music filled month, the CAMA FESTiVAL is now over and Hanoi is gearing for another sweltering June. This month seems to have panned out as a mixed bag of goodies for music lovers in the city.
We already had our first Piknic Electronik of the season on June 2 and have three more in June. The venue is quite surreal and offers family and friends ample space to relax, swim and listen to selected djs spinning various genres of electronica. Entrance is free.
Open Mic Night is back (long overdue) and we invite all musicians who want to share their music and network with fellow musicians to join us on June 16. This is a great opportunity for Hanoians to have a taste of the great musical talent out there. Entrance is free.
Psytrance night is back for a second time. Despite the rain at the last event, the turnout was very good and our inbox got bombarded by folks wanting to know when the next one would be. June 22 is the day, a day after solstice and quite fitting considering the trance-hippie scene. Entrance is free.
The BIG one this month is Northern Exposure (Edition 4) on June 30. We have now confirmed 8 live acts and 3 djs - Vaughan, Luke and Andy.
The live acts are:
One Black Eye, Thuong Dinh's Shoes, Michelle Stewart and Musbaba, Divine Monkey Empire, Yo! Chi, Zamina, Machete.Sex.Mix and very special guests The Cotton Runts - mostly the members from The Props. This is a send off for Ed Merlin and closure for one of the first bands in Hanoi to make a splash in the music scene.
Entrance is 100.000 ($5 for the cheapskates).
